Mobilgard 450 NC (No Chlorine) is a non-zinc, non-chlorine engine oil formulated with high-quality basestocks that provide low consumption, high-temperature oxidation resistance and thermal stability, combined with specially selected stable additives for well-balanced performance. Its detergent/dispersant qualities increase filter life and engine cleanliness, and its sustained high alkalinity provides excellent corrosion protection with fuels containing up to 1.5 percent sulphur, even in the presence of steel, copper, silver and bronze components. Mobilgard 450 NC is formulated for heavily loaded diesel engines built by EMD and used in marine applications, and suits other high horsepower marine diesel engines or higher BMEP engines using distillate fuels up to 1.5 percent sulphur, including drilling rigs and stationary power generation. It is approved by EMD and recommended for engines from Alco, Detroit Diesel (API CF-2) and Fairbanks Morse, meeting the requirements of an SAE 40 grade marine diesel engine oil wherever API CF and/or CF-2 performance is specified; the absence of chlorine also offers easier, lower-cost waste-oil disposal. Benefits include high thermal and oxidation stability that protects against sludge in intermittent marine service, effective anti-wear and load-carrying properties, high TBN with outstanding retention to neutralise combustion acids, excellent detergency/dispersancy to control deposits and varnish, a zinc-free formulation that protects silver bearings, and excellent water tolerance and separation.
