Mobil Delvac 1640 is an SAE 40 extra-high-performance monograde diesel engine oil from the Mobil Delvac 1600 Series, formulated from advanced base oils and a balanced additive system to meet or exceed the demanding specifications of the world's leading modern diesel engine builders. It is recommended by ExxonMobil for European and Japanese-designed intercooled, highly turbocharged engines operating under the most severe on- and off-highway conditions. ExxonMobil recommends the series for diesel-powered equipment from leading manufacturers, on-highway light and heavy-duty trucking, off-highway construction, quarrying and agriculture, and mixed diesel and gasoline fleets. Key benefits include outstanding protection against oil thickening, high-temperature deposits, sludge build-up and oil degradation for extended oil life beyond OEM drain intervals and excellent ring-sticking protection; exceptional wear protection that reduces maintenance costs and extends engine life; and excellent soot-handling capability that maintains viscosity control and reduces wear. Mobil Delvac 1640 is approved under MTU Oil Category 2, Wartsila 4-stroke medium-speed engines for distillate and dual-fuel operation, and ZF TE-ML 04B, and is recommended for applications requiring ACEA E2, API CF, API SF and MAN 270. Typical properties include a viscosity of 14.1 mm²/s at 100°C and 132 mm²/s at 40°C, a viscosity index of 112, TBN of 12 mgKOH/g, sulfated ash of 1.4 mass% and a pour point of -21°C.
