Mobil Pegasus 801 is an SAE 40 premium performance gas engine oil intended for the lubrication of all classes of gas engines operating at low, medium and high speeds where low-ash or ashless oils are recommended. It is the latest generation of ashless detergent, anti-scuff gas engine oil, formulated from highly refined base oils and an advanced technology additive system engineered for a high level of chemical and thermal stability, resulting in cleaner engines and higher performance. The oil provides outstanding engine cleanliness by helping to prevent carbon and ash deposits on pistons, ring belt areas, exhaust and intake ports, valves and valve stems, and combustion chambers, and it reduces port carboning potential in two-cycle gas engines. It minimises engine wear and protects valve faces, seats and guides in turbocharged, four-cycle engines, providing exceptional anti-scuff protection and excellent corrosion resistance for internal engine components; filter and oil life can be extended, helping to lengthen maintenance and overhaul intervals. It is intended for the crankcase, power cylinders and compressor cylinders of spark-ignited two- and four-cycle gas engines running on clean fuel, including engines driving generators or gas compressors, ebulliently cooled engines, and unattended remote-location engines operating at or beyond rated output. Mobil Pegasus 801 is recommended for applications requiring ashless or low-ash gas engine oils, outstanding anti-scuff protection, and a wide range of mixed gas engine designs, simplifying inventory where fleets of mixed engines are in service.

• Lubrication of the crankcase, power cylinders and compressor cylinders of spark-ignited two- and four-stroke gas engines operating on clean fuel.
• Ideal for engines that drive generators for power production or gas compressors in the gathering, transmission, storage and distribution of natural gas.

• Engines in remote locations that operate largely unattended for long periods, often at or above rated output, as well as intermittent or standby service, where reliability is essential.
• Multipurpose natural-gas engine applications, particularly highly turbocharged engines requiring anti-scuff protection for cylinder liners and piston skirts.
• Compressor cylinders where natural or petroleum gas being compressed is dry and free of suspended liquids or corrosive components, usually lubricated with the same oil as the engine crankcase.
