Manufacturer's description

Mobil Delvac Modern 15W-40 Full Protection is a synthetic-technology, high performance diesel engine oil that helps extend engine life in the most severe on- and off-highway applications while delivering outstanding performance in modern, high-output, low-emission engines equipped with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and aftertreatment systems using Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) and Diesel Oxidation Catalysts (DOC). Fully backwards compatible, it also performs excellently in older conventional engines, and it is biodiesel compatible. It provides outstanding protection in the most demanding diesel engines of Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit, Deutz, Mack, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, MAN, Navistar, Volvo and others, and is recommended for on-highway heavy-duty trucking and off-highway construction, mining, quarrying and agricultural use, as well as high-performance gasoline engines and mixed fleets. Key benefits include superior soot-viscosity control, outstanding thermal and oxidative stability, excellent oil consumption control, strong TBN reserves with stay-in-grade shear stability, excellent low-temperature pumpability, and component compatibility for long gasket, seal and DPF/DOC life. It meets or exceeds API CK-4, CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS, CH-4, SL/SM/SN/SP, JASO DH-2, Caterpillar ECF-3 and ACEA E7/E11, with approvals including Mack EO-N Premium Plus 03, MACK EOS-4.5, RENAULT TRUCKS RLD-3, VOLVO VDS-4.5 and Cummins CES 20081/20086.

Applications

  • Heavy-duty diesel engines, including modern Euro V/VI low-emission vehicles using technologies such as Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Continuously Regenerating Traps (CRT), Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR).
  • High-performance diesel applications, including turbocharged designs featuring EGR technology, and diesel applications using older, naturally aspirated conventional designs.
  • On-highway heavy-duty trucking and off-highway industries including construction, mining, quarrying and agriculture.
  • On-highway applications operating in both high-speed/high-load and short-haul pick-up/delivery service.
  • Off-highway applications operating in severe low-speed/heavy-load conditions.
  • High-performance gasoline engines and mixed-fleet operations.
  • Diesel-powered equipment from American, European and Japanese OEMs.

Performance & benefits

  • Superior soot-viscosity control helps maintain engine efficiency, long engine life and long oil life.
  • Outstanding thermal and oxidative stability helps reduce low-temperature sludge build-up and high-temperature deposits.
  • Excellent oil-consumption control helps lower oil costs through less make-up oil during operation.
  • Excellent TBN reserves help improve corrosion protection and extend drain intervals.
  • Stay-in-grade shear stability helps maintain viscosity in severe, high-temperature service, for greater wear protection and long engine life.
  • Excellent low-temperature pumpability gives fast oil flow and helps reduce wear during engine start-up in low temperatures.
  • Superb resistance to corrosive and abrasive wear gives long life to critical wear surfaces.
  • Component compatibility and compliance with demanding OEM specifications and the latest API gasoline service category give long gasket, seal and after-treatment (DPF and DOC) life — a single engine oil for mixed-fleet operations.
