Manufacturer's description

Eni CLADIUM 400 SAE 40 is a lubricant formulated with high quality base stocks, developed for the lubrication of 4-stroke Diesel engines, which for high sulfur content in the fuel used and for the particular operating conditions require a lubricant with a base number (BN) particularly high.

Applications

  • Lubricant formulated with high-quality base stocks, developed for lubricating 4-stroke Diesel engines that, due to the high sulphur content of the fuel used and their particular operating conditions, require a lubricant with a particularly high base number (BN).

Performance & benefits

  • Formulated with particular detergent characteristics that effectively prevent the formation of lacquer and carbon deposits on the pistons in areas exposed to high temperatures, preventing ring-sticking.
  • Its alkalinity (BN) inhibits the corrosive effects that can result from the condensation of acidic combustion products — particularly useful in engines with low oil consumption or in conditions that raise cylinder surface temperatures enough to promote condensation of acidic substances.
  • Its anti-wear properties also make it suitable for lubricating the main engine's final reduction gears.
  • Demulsibility allows easy separation of water by centrifugation.
  • Antifoam properties reduce air-bubble formation, allowing a continuous oil film to form.
  • Specifically recommended for 4-stroke Diesel engines running on high-sulphur fuel or operating frequently at low temperatures, which require a high-BN lubricant; also recommended for 4-stroke Diesel engines whose particular operating conditions (low power output or stop-and-go operation) can induce acid condensation on cylinder surfaces.
  • Also delivers excellent performance in engines running continuously at full power on distillate fuel, making it possible to standardize lubrication across a fleet that runs partly on heavy fuel oil and partly on distillate fuel.
