Manufacturer's description

Mobiltemp SHC Series products are supreme-performance anti-wear greases primarily intended for high-temperature applications, combining polyalphaolefin (PAO) synthetic base fluids with an organo-clay, non-soap thickener. The PAO base offers excellent resistance to thermal and oxidative degradation, while the clay thickener provides excellent high-temperature structural stability and a high dropping point. The wax-free, high-viscosity-index synthetic base also gives superior low-temperature lubrication and excellent film protection at high temperatures, plus potential energy savings from reduced friction and lower torque. Mobiltemp SHC 100 is an NLGI 1½ grade with an ISO VG 100 base oil, for high-speed and thrust bearings where a wide temperature range is needed. It is particularly suited to electric motor bearings where operating conditions demand reduced friction, low wear and long service life, across -50°C to 200°C with appropriate relubrication intervals. Its dropping point is 308°C. Like the rest of the series, it delivers outstanding high- and low-temperature performance, excellent oxidation resistance and structural retention, low coefficient of traction and outstanding low-temperature pumpability.

Applications

  • Mobiltemp SHC greases offer excellent high-temperature grease life, bearing protection and grease integrity, along with excellent low-temperature capability and good wear protection.
  • Mobiltemp SHC 32: sealed or re-packable ball and roller bearings; splines, screws and some enclosed gearing; extreme-temperature applications, with a recommended operating range of −50 °C to 180 °C (with appropriate relubrication intervals).
  • Mobiltemp SHC 100: high-speed and thrust bearings requiring a wide temperature range, particularly suitable for electric-motor bearings where reduced friction, low wear and long service life are needed; extreme-temperature applications, with a recommended operating range of −50 °C to 200 °C (with appropriate relubrication intervals).
  • Mobiltemp SHC 460 Special: the molybdenum disulphide content makes it particularly suitable for sliding machine elements such as cams and ways, subject to long relubrication intervals, limited motion or shock loading.
  • Also suitable for oven-conveyor or kiln bearings subject to high or cycling temperatures; extreme-temperature applications, with a recommended operating range of −40 °C to 180 °C (with appropriate relubrication intervals).

Performance & benefits

  • Offers superb high-temperature performance, including thickener integrity and oxidation life, with enhanced bearing protection and bearing life.
  • Uses PAO synthetic base oils, chosen for their exceptional thermal/oxidative resistance.
  • Uses a special clay thickener for excellent structural stability and a high dropping point.
  • Outstanding high- and low-temperature performance: reduced downtime and lower maintenance costs.
  • Excellent resistance to oxidation and maintenance of grease structure at high temperatures: extended service life, with longer intervals between relubrication.
  • Low coefficient of traction: potential for reduced energy consumption.
  • Outstanding low-temperature pumpability: easier low-temperature start-up and lower running torque.
