Manufacturer's description

Mobil Jet Oil II is a high-performance aircraft-type gas turbine lubricant formulated from a highly stable synthetic base fluid and a unique chemical additive package, giving outstanding thermal and oxidative stability that resists deterioration and deposit formation in both liquid and vapour phases, together with excellent foam resistance. Its effective operating range is -40°C to 204°C, and its high specific heat ensures good heat transfer from oil-cooled engine parts. Extensive laboratory and in-flight testing shows excellent bulk oil stability at temperatures up to 204°C with low evaporation loss. Key benefits include excellent wear and corrosion protection that extends gear and bearing life, retention of viscosity and film strength across a wide temperature range, chemical stability that lowers oil consumption, and a low pour point that eases cold-weather starting. Mobil Jet Oil II is recommended for turbo-jet, turbo-fan, turbo-prop and turbo-shaft (helicopter) gas turbine engines in commercial and military service, as well as industrial and marine applications. It is approved against the Standard Performance (STD) classification of MIL-PRF-23699, is compatible with other synthetic gas turbine lubricants meeting the same specification and with all metals and common seal materials used in gas turbine construction, and carries builder approvals from Honeywell/Lycoming, Rolls-Royce/Allison, CFM International, General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, SNECMA, Turbomeca, Hamilton Sundstrand and others.

Applications

  • Aircraft gas-turbine engines of the turbojet, turbofan, turboprop and turboshaft (helicopter) types, in commercial and military service.
  • Aircraft-type gas-turbine engines used in industrial or marine applications.
  • Approved against the Standard Performance (STD) classification of US Military Specification MIL-PRF-23699, and compatible with other synthetic gas-turbine lubricants meeting MIL-PRF-23699 (mixing with other products is not recommended, as it would reduce performance).
  • Compatible with all metals used in gas-turbine construction, and with F Rubber (Viton A), H Rubber (Buna N) and silicone seal materials.
  • Approved by major engine and accessory builders including Honeywell/Lycoming Turbines, Rolls-Royce/Allison Engine Company, CFM International, General Electric, International Aero Engines, Pratt & Whitney Group, Pratt & Whitney Canada, Rolls-Royce Limited, SNECMA, Honeywell/Garrett Turbine Engine Company and Turbomeca (specific engine or equipment approval must be verified with the builder).

Performance & benefits

  • High specific heat ensures good heat transfer from oil-cooled engine parts.
  • Excellent bulk-oil stability at temperatures up to 204°C (400°F), with an evaporation rate low enough to prevent excessive loss of volume.
  • Excellent wear and corrosion protection extends gear and bearing life and reduces engine maintenance.
  • Retains viscosity and film strength across a wide temperature range, providing effective lubrication at high operating temperatures.
  • Chemically stable, reducing evaporation losses and lowering oil consumption.
  • Low pour point eases start-up in low-ambient-temperature conditions.
