Mobil SHC Gear 1500, 3200 and 6800 are supreme-performance, heavy-duty synthetic gear oils formulated primarily for enclosed gearing as well as plain and rolling-element bearings. Built from synthetic base fluids with exceptional oxidation and thermal properties and excellent low-temperature fluidity, combined with a naturally high viscosity index and a unique additive system, they deliver outstanding equipment protection, oil life and problem-free operation across severe high- and low-temperature conditions, with excellent resistance to gear scuffing and shock loading. Their very high viscosity grades address the lubrication needs of very slow-speed, high-load and high-temperature gears and bearings — situations where conventional products would operate in the boundary regime — and can be used to convert all-loss lubrication systems to circulation or, in some applications, replace grease altogether. The low-traction synthetic base stocks reduce fluid friction and operating temperature, while a light color helps avoid the need for gear cleaning before inspection. Typical applications include industrial enclosed spur, helical and bevel gears (especially slow-speed and/or high-load units), plain and rolling-element bearings, and — for grades 3200 and 6800 — railroad DC traction motor drives and certain open-gear applications such as oiling pinions.

Applications

• Mobil SHC Gear 1500, 3200 and 6800 are recommended for all types of enclosed, steel-on-steel gear drives, suitable for both circulation and splash lubrication systems.
• Particularly recommended for gear sets operating under heavy or shock loads and low speeds, where boundary lubrication may prevail.
• Industrial enclosed spur, helical and bevel gears, especially slow-speed and/or high-load units (Mobil SHC Gear 1500, 3200 and 6800).
• Plain and rolling-element bearings, especially in slow-speed and/or high-load applications (Mobil SHC Gear 1500, 3200 and 6800).
• Railroad DC traction-motor drives (Mobil SHC Gear 3200 and 6800).
• Certain open-gear applications, such as oiling pinions or specially designed circulation systems (Mobil SHC Gear 3200 and 6800).
• Before changing a system to one of the Mobil SHC Gear 1500, 3200 or 6800 lubricants, it should be thoroughly cleaned out and flushed to achieve maximum performance benefits.
