Mobilgear 600 XP 460
EP gear oil for enclosed industrial drives, with micropitting protection, up to 100 °C
- Industrial gears
ISO VG 460
Synthetic EP oil for enclosed industrial gears, resistant to micropitting
ANSI/AGMA 9005-F16 (2016)
The current edition of the AGMA lubrication practice for enclosed industrial gear drives.
Industrial gear oil CLP — DIN 51517, part 3
Class CLP, gear oils with extreme-pressure additives; requires an FZG pass plus corrosion and ageing protection.
Industrial gear lubricant CKD — ISO 12925
Class CKD of ISO 12925-1: a gear oil with the same additive package as CKC but greater thermal stability, for gear units running hot.

Mobil SHC™ Gear Series is a line of exceptional-performance synthetic industrial gear oils designed to protect gears and bearings, extend oil life even under extreme conditions, and enable problem-free equipment operation. Formulated from synthetic base fluids with excellent oxidation, thermal and low-temperature properties, the high viscosity index of these oils minimizes viscosity change across the operating temperature range, while an advanced proprietary additive system provides excellent protection against scuffing and a high level of resistance to micropitting fatigue. The series offers outstanding rust and corrosion protection versus conventional gear oils, even with seawater contamination, shows no tendency to plug fine filters when wet, and provides excellent compatibility with ferrous and non-ferrous metals, elastomers and mineral-based gear oils, easing changeover. Low-traction synthetic base stocks reduce fluid friction and operating temperature, helping improve gear efficiency, while strong EP properties protect under shock loading. Mobil SHC Gear Series is recommended for enclosed industrial gear drives, including steel-on-steel spur, helical and bevel gears, particularly heavily loaded gearboxes with surface-hardened tooth metallurgies subject to micropitting, and applications with extreme temperatures or severe corrosion — such as gearboxes in the paper, steel, oil, textile, lumber and cement industries, and plastic extruder gearboxes. Mobil SHC Gear 460 is the ISO VG 460 grade, with a kinematic viscosity of 460 mm²/s at 40 °C and 54.1 mm²/s at 100 °C, a viscosity index of 184 and a pour point of -48 °C. It holds Flender and SEW-Eurodrive approvals and is approved to GE's D50E35 off-highway wheel gearbox specification. It meets AGMA 9005-F16, DIN 51517-3 and ISO 12925-1 L-CKD requirements.
