Shell Tonna S3 M 220 (ISO VG 220, 220 mm²/s at 40 °C) is specially designed for lubricating machine-tool slideways and ways, tables and feed mechanisms. Improved adhesion and stick-slip characteristics combine to deliver superior frictional performance for slideways. It is the grade to use on vertical slideways, also suits machine-tool gearboxes and spindles, pinions and the front crossbeam, meets Fives Cincinnati P-50 and is particularly recommended where low-speed, high-precision machines are used.
