Manufacturer's description

Mobilith SHC Series greases combine synthetic base fluids with a high-quality lithium complex thickener to deliver superior performance across a wide range of applications and temperature extremes. The wax-free synthetic base and its low coefficient of traction (versus mineral oils) give excellent low-temperature pumpability and very low starting and running torque, offering potential energy savings and reduced operating temperatures in the load zone of spherical roller and ball bearings. Mobilith SHC 007 (NLGI 00, ISO VG 460 synthetic base fluid) is the semi-fluid grade of the series, with a recommended operating range of −50 °C to 150 °C with appropriate relubrication intervals. It is used mainly in grease-filled industrial gear cases subject to high temperatures, where conventional semi-fluid greases do not give acceptable lubricant life, and in non-driven heavy-duty truck trailer wheel hubs. It carries the Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy approval for offshore direct drive wind turbine main bearings and meets DIN 51826 GP HC 00 K -30.

Applications

  • Compatible with most mineral-oil-based products, though admixture may reduce performance; before changing a system to a Mobilith SHC product, it should be thoroughly cleaned out to achieve the full performance benefits.
  • Mobilith SHC 100 is an anti-wear and extreme-pressure grease recommended for higher-speed applications such as electric motors, where reduced friction, low wear and long service life are required (NLGI 2 / ISO VG 100, synthetic base fluid, −40 °C to 150 °C).
  • Mobilith SHC 220 is a multipurpose, NLGI 2 extreme-pressure grease for heavy-duty automotive and industrial applications (ISO VG 220 synthetic base fluid, −40 °C to 150 °C).
  • Mobilith SHC 221 is a multipurpose extreme-pressure grease for heavy-duty automotive and industrial applications, particularly with centralised grease systems (−40 °C to 150 °C).
  • Mobilith SHC 460 (NLGI 1.5, ISO VG 460 synthetic base fluid) is an extreme-pressure grease for tough industrial and marine applications, providing outstanding bearing protection under heavy loads at low-to-moderate speeds and where water resistance is critical — demonstrated in steel mills, paper mills and marine applications (−30 °C to 150 °C).
  • Mobilith SHC 1500 (NLGI 1.5 / ISO VG 1500, synthetic base fluid) is intended for plain and rolling-element bearings operating at extremely slow speeds under heavy loads and high temperatures (−30 °C to 150 °C), and has proven effective in severe roll-press applications, rotary-kiln roller bearings and slag-transfer rail-car bearings.
  • Mobilith SHC 007 (NLGI 00 / ISO VG 460, synthetic base fluid, −50 °C to 150 °C) is used mainly in grease-filled industrial gear cases subject to high temperatures, where conventional semi-fluid greases fail to provide acceptable lubricant life, and in non-driven heavy-duty truck trailer wheel hubs.

Performance & benefits

  • Outstanding high- and low-temperature performance: wide application temperature range, with excellent protection at high temperatures and low torque, easy start-up at low temperatures.
  • Excellent protection against wear, rust and corrosion: reduced downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Excellent thermal stability and oxidation resistance: extended service life, with longer intervals between relubrication and improved bearing life.
  • Low traction coefficient: potential to improve mechanical efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
  • Includes both high- and low-viscosity grades: outstanding protection for slow-speed, heavily loaded bearings, with options for good low-temperature performance.
  • Outstanding structural stability in the presence of water: retains excellent grease performance in hostile aqueous environments.
  • Low volatility: helps resist viscosity increase at high temperatures, maximising relubrication intervals and bearing life.
