Mobilgear OGL 461 is a high-performance advanced technology grease that combines extreme pressure additives with finely dispersed graphite for load carrying. It is designed primarily for lubricating large, slow-to-medium speed, heavily loaded open gears, and is formulated for excellent adhesion and resistance to fling-off under severe operating conditions. It is an NLGI 1.5 grease (worked penetration 305 × 0.1 mm) with a base oil viscosity of 460 mm²/s at 40°C. It belongs to the Mobilgear OGL Series, together with grades 007, 009 and 2800. Typical applications include ring gears on cement kilns and ball mills, and other open gearing in mining, steel, cement, paper and chemical industries. Mobilgear OGL 461 is also suitable for priming newly assembled open gear surfaces before initial turning. Key benefits include superior wear protection (four-ball wear scar 0.6 mm), very good rust and corrosion protection, strong adhesive properties that reduce fling-off and consumption, and a formulation free of lead, nitrite and solvent for reduced environmental impact. No formal OEM approvals or specification codes are listed on the datasheet.
