Manufacturer's description

Mobil SHC Polyrex is a series of high-temperature synthetic polyurea greases developed to solve demanding lubrication problems in both general industry and food processing applications. Built on advanced polyurea thickener technology combined with a unique blend of synthetic base oils, the series provides lubrication performance up to 170°C while resisting oxidation and loss of structural stability, allowing extended re-lubrication intervals and continued equipment protection. Mobil SHC Polyrex 222 is the NLGI 2 multi-purpose grade of the range, recommended for heavy-duty plain and anti-friction bearings. The base oil viscosity is 220 mm²/s at 40°C, water washout loss at 79°C is 7% and the recommended operating range is -30°C to 170°C. Like every grade in the series, it is NSF H1 registered, complies with FDA Title 21 CFR 178.3570 for incidental food contact, meets Kosher requirements, and is manufactured in ISO 22000 certified facilities in line with ISO 21469 hygiene principles. This grade also meets DIN 51825 KPF HC 2 P -30.

Applications

  • While Mobil SHC Polyrex greases are compatible with many polyurea and lithium-complex greases, admixture may detract from performance; before changing a system, it should be thoroughly cleaned out to achieve maximum performance benefits.
  • Mobil SHC Polyrex 005 is an NLGI 00 grade grease specifically designed for central grease systems.
  • Its enhanced pumpability and low-temperature mobility make Mobil SHC Polyrex 005 ideal for systems subject to low ambient temperatures, such as food-processing freezers or outdoor applications; recommended operating temperature range is -30°C to 170°C.
  • Mobil SHC Polyrex 005 may also be used for lubrication of enclosed gears where oil leakage is a concern.
  • Mobil SHC Polyrex 222 is a multi-purpose NLGI 2 grease recommended for heavy-duty plain and anti-friction bearings; recommended operating temperature range is -30°C to 170°C.
  • Mobil SHC Polyrex 462 is an NLGI 2 grade grease recommended for heavily loaded plain and anti-friction bearings, and for bearings exposed to extreme temperatures, such as steam-heated rolls or exhaust-fan bearings.
  • Mobil SHC Polyrex 462 is also recommended for felt-roll bearings and oven-conveyor bearings; recommended operating temperature range is -20°C to 170°C.

Performance & benefits

  • NSF H1 registered lubricant, allowing use in food and beverage packaging and processing applications.
  • Manufactured in facilities registered to ISO 21469, assuring product integrity through independent verification.
  • Outstanding high-temperature performance, up to 170°C, helps provide protection under harsh conditions and allows for extended re-lubrication or maintenance intervals.
  • Excellent load-carrying capability helps reduce bearing wear under heavy loads.
  • Excellent water resistance and corrosion protection help reduce lubricant consumption and increase bearing protection where water wash-downs are common, and help reduce rust and corrosion, extending equipment life.
