Manufacturer's description

Mobil Glygoyle 100 is a fully synthetic polyalkylene glycol (PAG) gear, bearing and compressor oil in the ISO VG 100 grade, developed for operating conditions beyond the capabilities of other synthetic lubricants and mineral oils. Its pour point of -30 °C ensures good low-temperature fluidity, and its viscosity index of 190 gives a wide operating temperature range. Its kinematic viscosity is 100 mm²/s at 40 °C and 17.3 mm²/s at 100 °C. Like the rest of the series, it is designed for lubricating worm gears, especially in heavy-duty, severe-service applications such as conveyors, escalators, material handling, press drives, packaging machinery, ski lifts, agitators and mixers, as well as other industrial gears, plain and rolling-contact bearings and compressors. It delivers EP/anti-wear protection, micropitting protection, rust and corrosion resistance, foam resistance and a low traction coefficient for higher energy efficiency. The sheet lists it as meeting DIN 51517-3:2018-09 and ISO L-CKPG (ISO 12925-1:2024).

Applications

  • Lubrication of worm gears, especially in heavy-duty, severe-service applications, in both food-grade and non-food-grade uses.
  • Many types of industrial gears and anti-friction bearing applications under severe service conditions.
  • Hydrocarbon gas compression applications, where the lower viscosity grades are especially effective thanks to their poor miscibility with hydrocarbons, reducing viscosity dilution compared with hydrocarbon-based compressor oils.
  • Filled-for-life gearboxes, especially high-ratio/low-efficiency worm gears.
  • Worm-gear applications such as conveyors, escalators, material handling, press drives, packaging machinery, ski lifts, agitators and mixers.
  • Other gear and bearing applications in the cement, metalworking, plastics, food and textile-finishing industries.
  • Gas compression using reciprocating, rotary, screw and centrifugal compressors, in operating conditions beyond the capabilities of other synthetic lubricants and mineral oils.
  • PAG-based lubricants have limitations regarding compatibility with certain seal and coating materials, some light-metal alloys and other lubricants; consult the original equipment manufacturer before use.

Performance & benefits

  • In worm gears, allows more torque to be transmitted through the reducer while, in many cases, lowering the operating oil-sump temperature — giving longer seal, oil and gearbox life.
  • In gas compressors, the limited solubility of hydrocarbons reduces lubricant dilution and enhances equipment protection.
  • High energy efficiency relative to mineral, PAO and other PAG oils, combined with a thermal conductivity about 10% higher than mineral and PAO oils, gives lower operating temperatures and longer component life.
  • Very high viscosity indices across the series (from 170 for ISO 68 to 285 for ISO 1000) give a wide operating temperature range, beyond that of mineral and PAO lubricants.
