Manufacturer's description

Mobil 1 0W-20 is an advanced full synthetic engine oil from Mobil 1, the world's leading synthetic engine oil brand, designed to deliver outstanding engine protection and enhanced fuel economy while meeting or exceeding the requirements of various vehicle manufacturers and industry standards. It is specially designed for American and Asian design gasoline engines found in modern hybrid vehicles. The oil suits modern high-efficiency turbocharged gasoline engines from General Motors, Ford, Chrysler and Fiat, as well as Japanese and Korean vehicles calling for SAE 0W-20, and it satisfies the requirements of hybrid applications where it is highly recommended; it has been field tested in a Toyota Prius taxi operated up to 160,000 km, demonstrating excellent resistance to thermal oxidation and shearing despite strenuous stop-and-go operation. It meets or exceeds the API SP Resource Conserving standard, helping address low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) in downsized direct-injection turbocharged engines, and is approved as GM dexos1:GEN3, with recommendations covering Chrysler MS-6395, Ford WSS-M2C947-A/B1, GM 6094M and FIAT 9.55535-CR1, meeting or exceeding API SJ through SQ, ILSAC GF-6A and ACEA C5. Built with a proprietary blend of high-performance synthetic basestocks and a precisely balanced additive system, Mobil 1 0W-20 helps increase engine efficiency and fuel economy while providing high-temperature protection comparable to higher viscosity oils. It is not suitable for engines designed for higher viscosity oils, nor for 2-cycle or aviation engines unless approved by the manufacturer.

Applications

  • Designed for modern, high-efficiency turbocharged gasoline engines from American manufacturers (General Motors, Ford, Chrysler and Fiat) in gasoline and/or hybrid vehicles, as well as for Japanese and Korean vehicles that specifically call for an SAE 0W-20 viscosity grade and any of the specifications the oil supports.
  • Satisfies the requirements of hybrid applications, for which it is highly recommended.
  • Field-tested in a Toyota Prius taxi operated day in, day out for up to 160,000 km; periodic oil-condition monitoring and engine inspections showed excellent resistance to thermal oxidation and shearing, giving excellent protection against engine wear and deposit build-up despite the demanding operating conditions and frequent stop-and-go driving.
  • Meets or exceeds the requirements of the 'API SP Resource Conserving' industry standard, contributing to engine fuel efficiency and helping address Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI), making it a preferred choice for downsized, direct-injection turbocharged gasoline engines.
  • Suitable for many driving styles and conditions, from mild to severe, wherever an SAE 0W-20 or SAE 5W-20 engine oil is recommended.
  • Not suitable for vehicle engines designed to operate with higher-viscosity engine oils, and not recommended for 2-stroke or aviation engines unless specifically approved by the manufacturer.

Performance & benefits

  • Low-viscosity, advanced full synthetic formula — helps improve fuel economy when switching from higher-viscosity oils; actual savings depend on vehicle/engine type, outside temperature, driving conditions and your current engine-oil viscosity.
  • Outstanding thermal and oxidation stability — helps reduce oil aging, resulting in long-lasting protection.
  • Outstanding low-temperature, quick cold-weather starting capabilities — fast protection helps extend engine life.
  • Precisely balanced additive component system — excellent overall lubrication and wear-protection performance, helping provide low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) and timing-chain wear protection while keeping the engine clean.
