- Biodegradable gears
ISO VG 150
Biodegradable gear oil carrying the EU Ecolabel
The European Union's voluntary ecolabel for products, including lubricants, with reduced environmental impact across their life cycle.
US EPA Vessel General Permit (VGP)
EPA permit requiring environmentally acceptable lubricants at oil-to-sea interfaces of vessels.
OECD 301B biodegradability above 60 %
OECD test measuring carbon dioxide evolved over 28 days; above 60 % counts as "readily biodegradable".
