Manufacturer's description

Mobil Vacuoline 500 Series is a family of high performance, heavy duty circulating oils designed for the demanding requirements of No-Twist Rod Mills, while their all-round performance also makes them suitable for circulation systems lubricating gears and bearings. The series is designed to meet the critical requirements of Morgan Construction Company's high-speed No-Twist Rod Mills as well as the circulation oil requirements of Danielli rod mills, and is formulated from high quality base stocks with a proprietary additive system for superior wettability, extra oil retention and thin-film protection against rust and corrosion. The oils deliver excellent resistance to oxidation and thermal degradation, a high level of wear protection, and excellent demulsibility that permits water and other contaminants to separate readily, even under severe water contamination. Typical applications include plain and roller bearings, parallel shaft and bevel gearing, splash, bath and ring-oil systems, and — for the 525, 528 and 533 grades — hydraulic systems using gear, vane, radial and axial piston pumps requiring high-viscosity anti-wear fluids, as well as certain compressors and vacuum pumps handling air and inert gases (not for breathing-air compressors). Mobil Vacuoline 525 is the ISO VG 100 grade of the series (kinematic viscosity 90 mm²/s at 40 °C and 10.7 mm²/s at 100 °C, viscosity index 99, pour point -24 °C). It carries the DANIELI Type 21-0.597654.F BGV No Twist Stand Block-TMB/TFS Rev 15 approval and meets the Morgan No-Twist Mill Oil Quality Specification.

Applications

  • Intended primarily for the lubrication of plain bearings, roller bearings, and parallel-shaft and bevel gearing.
  • Suitable as multipurpose lubricants in systems not subject to shock loading and not requiring extreme-pressure performance.
  • Good demulsibility, retained even under conditions of severe water contamination.
  • Used in applications with splash, bath and ring-oil arrangements, and all other application methods involving pumps, valves and auxiliary equipment.
  • Recommended for use in hydraulic systems where higher-viscosity oils are specified.
  • Particularly resistant to the effects of prolonged high-temperature exposure, and perform well in circulating systems with short oil residence times.
  • No-Twist rod mills.
  • Moderate-duty spur, bevel, helical and herringbone gear units.
  • Circulating systems.
  • Mobil Vacuoline 525, 528 and 533 can also be used in hydraulic systems with gear, vane, radial and axial piston pumps where high-viscosity anti-wear hydraulic fluids are required.
  • Certain compressors and vacuum pumps handling air and inert gases, provided discharge temperatures do not exceed 150°C; not suitable for breathing-air compressors.

Performance & benefits

  • Well known and highly regarded worldwide, based on outstanding performance and the research, development and global technical support behind the brand.
  • Highly versatile performance has made these oils the choice of many users around the world for many decades.
  • Designed for lubrication of circulation systems of No-Twist rod mills, industrial and marine gearboxes, hydraulic systems and a wide variety of ancillary equipment.
  • Multiple-application capability gives inventory savings.
