Business customers only. We sell wholesale, invoiced to registered companies.

Standards & approvals

  • Allison C-4 — off-highway automatic transmission fluid

Allison's fluid specification for off-highway and truck automatic transmissions: stable wet-clutch friction, gear protection and seal compatibility.

  • Caterpillar TO-4 — transmissions, clutches and wet brakes

Caterpillar's specification for transmission and wet-brake fluids in off-highway equipment, with strict friction and gear wear requirements.

  • Vickers 35VQ25 vane-pump wear test

Vane-pump wear test (Eaton/Vickers) for anti-wear hydraulic fluids in high-pressure mobile pumps; a fluid "meets 35VQ25", with no certification by Vickers.

Manufacturer's description

Cat TDTO Cold Weather is a synthetic lubricant blend that provides superior performance and protection in transmissions, torque converters, final drives, hydraulics and/or wet brakes at temperatures down to -40°F (-40°C). Its special formulation creates optimal friction performance and controls transmission slippage while eliminating clutch glazing. It has excellent compatibility with all materials used in Cat machines, including friction materials, seals and elastomers, and its outstanding thermal stability and oxidation resistance give it long drain intervals when combined with Cat S•O•S Oil Analysis and Cat Filters. Cat TDTO Cold Weather is the preferred transmission and drive train oil for low-temperature operation in certain applications and can also be used in wet brakes and hydraulics (refer to Caterpillar publication SEBU6250 for details). It is also recommended for applications requiring Caterpillar TO-4, Allison C-4, or Vickers 35VQ25 specifications. Benefits include easier engine starts in harsh cold climates, greater machine rim pull and breakout force, promoted transmission durability, increased clutch, gear and bearing life, and a single oil solution for cold-weather powertrain and hydraulic system needs. At the 0W-20 grade, typical values from the Cat technical data sheet include an API gravity of 30.8 (ASTM D287), a flash point of 190°C (ASTM D92), a pour point of -48°C (ASTM D97), and low-temperature pumpability of 1,500 cP at -30°C (ASTM D4684).

Applications

  • Preferred transmission and drive train oil for low-temperature operation in transmissions, torque converters, final drives, hydraulics and/or wet brakes down to -40°C (-40°F).
  • Also recommended for equipment requiring Caterpillar TO-4, Allison C-4 or Vickers 35VQ25 specifications.

Performance & benefits

  • Easier engine starts in harsh cold climates.
  • Greater machine rim pull and breakout force.
  • Long drain intervals thanks to outstanding thermal stability and oxidation resistance.
  • Promotes transmission durability and increases clutch, gear and bearing life, with optimal cold-weather friction performance and reduced transmission slippage.
  • Single-oil solution for cold-weather powertrain and hydraulic system needs; excellent compatibility with Cat friction materials, seals and elastomers, without clutch glazing.
