Unirex N 2 is the premium lithium-complex grease of the ExxonMobil UNIREX N series in NLGI 2, for high-temperature service in rolling-element bearings. It is recommended for lubricating electric motors, including NEMA Insulation Class A, B and F motors, and is mainly applied by hand. It can also be used in automatic centralised systems, although equipment served by these systems does not normally need its long-life properties. It offers excellent high-temperature performance (the lithium-complex thickener resists softening up to 190 °C) and low-temperature performance (low start-up torque down to at least -20 °C), mechanical stability, and resistance to water washout and corrosion. It meets DIN 51825 K2N-20L and ISO 6743-9 L-XBDHA 2. It is not intended for extreme-pressure conditions requiring extra anti-welding properties.

Applications

• Recommended for the lubrication of electric motors, suitable for NEMA (National Electric Manufacturer's Association) Insulation Class A, B, and F motors.
• Most uses of Unirex N involve manual methods of application.
• Unirex N 2 is suitable for use in automatic centralised systems, although equipment served by these systems does not normally require Unirex N's long-life properties.
• Such systems replenish the lubricant at relatively short intervals, and Unirex N 3 should not be used in them.

• Very good low-temperature characteristics: start-up power requirements are low at temperatures down to at least -20°C, meeting DIN 51825 low-temperature torque requirements.
• Excellent mechanical stability and excellent water and corrosion resistance: resists softening from mechanical working, resists water washout and protects bearings against corrosion.
• Excellent performance in high-speed applications: channelling characteristics provide excellent performance in high-speed deep-groove ball bearings.
• Unirex N 3 is recommended where DmN (mean bearing diameter x rpm) exceeds 360,000.
