Mobilgrease XHP 222 is an extended-service lithium complex grease from the Mobilgrease XHP 220 series, built on ExxonMobil's proprietary lithium complex manufacturing technology and designed to outperform conventional greases across a wide range of applications and severe operating conditions. It combines excellent high-temperature performance with superb adhesion, structural stability, resistance to water contamination, rust and corrosion protection and a maximum recommended operating temperature of 140°C. It is the NLGI 2 grade, built on an ISO VG 220 base oil, with a dropping point of 290°C, a worked penetration of 280 (0.1 mm) and a water washout loss of 5% at 79°C. ExxonMobil recommends it for industrial and marine applications, chassis components and farm equipment; its sticky formulation stays in place longer. This grade holds the VOLVO 97720 approval. The data sheet also recommends it for applications requiring Fives Cincinnati P-64 and states that it meets or exceeds DIN 51825 KP2N-20 and NLGI HPM+WR.

Applications

• Mobilgrease XHP 220 greases are used across a wide range of equipment, including industrial, automotive, construction and marine applications; their blue colour allows easy verification of application.
• Mobilgrease XHP 005 and 220 are softer, high-temperature greases recommended for centralised grease application systems, gear lubrication, and where extreme-cold-temperature pumpability is important.
• Mobilgrease XHP 221 is recommended for industrial and marine applications, chassis components and farm equipment, and provides excellent low-temperature performance.
• Mobilgrease XHP 222 is recommended for industrial and marine applications, chassis components and farm equipment; its sticky formulation stays in place longer.
• Mobilgrease XHP 223 is recommended where good high-temperature and anti-leakage properties are required — particularly for severe truck wheel-bearing applications, or rolling-element bearings subject to vibration or higher speeds that need a higher-consistency grease for channelling characteristics.
• Mobilgrease XHP 222 Special contains 0.75% molybdenum disulfide, is grey in colour, and is recommended for moderate-duty service in industrial applications, chassis components and farm equipment, including king pins, U-joints, fifth wheels and bucket pins.
