Business customers only. We sell wholesale, invoiced to registered companies.

Standards & approvals

  • ANSI/AGMA 9005-F16 (2016)

The current edition of the AGMA lubrication practice for enclosed industrial gear drives.

  • Industrial gear oil CLP — DIN 51517, part 3

Class CLP, gear oils with extreme-pressure additives; requires an FZG pass plus corrosion and ageing protection.

  • Industrial gear lubricant CKD — ISO 12925

Class CKD of ISO 12925-1: a gear oil with the same additive package as CKC but greater thermal stability, for gear units running hot.

Manufacturer's description

Mobilgear 600 XP 68 is part of the Mobilgear 600 XP Series, a range of extra high performance gear oils with outstanding extreme pressure characteristics and load-carrying properties, intended for all types of enclosed gear drives with circulation or splash lubrication. Formulated to keep pace with the trend toward smaller, higher power-density gearboxes, the series protects gear teeth against early-stage micropitting and exceeds industry bearing wear protection requirements, delivering up to 15 times the wear protection measured by the FAG FE 8 industry standard test. Its balanced formulation provides maximum wear and corrosion protection while remaining compatible with common gearbox seal materials, helping maintain seal integrity, prevent leaks and keep out contamination. Key benefits include reduced debris denting from wear particles (up to 22% bearing life improvement), excellent resistance to oil oxidation, thermal degradation, sludge and deposit formation, optimized rust and corrosion protection for steel and soft metal alloys, and resistance to foaming and emulsion formation. Recommended for industrial spur, helical, bevel and worm gearing operating at bulk oil temperatures up to 100°C — including conveyors, agitators, dryers, extruders, fans, mixers, presses, pulpers and pumps — as well as marine gearing (main propulsion, deck machinery, winches, cranes, pumps, elevators) and non-gear applications such as heavily loaded, slow-speed plain and rolling contact bearings. Mobilgear 600 XP 68 is the ISO VG 68 grade, with a kinematic viscosity of 68 mm²/s at 40 °C and 8.8 mm²/s at 100 °C, a viscosity index of 101 and a pour point of -27 °C. The manufacturer lists no builder approvals for this grade. It meets or exceeds the requirements of AGMA 9005-F16, DIN 51517-3:2018-09 and ISO 12925-1:2024 L-CKD. Like the whole series, it has a Timken OK Load of 65 lb and an FZG scuffing fail load stage of 12+.

Applications

  • Mobilgear 600 XP lubricants are used in a wide range of industrial and marine applications, especially spur, helical, bevel and worm gearing.
  • Industrial gearing for conveyors, agitators, dryers, extruders, fans, mixers, presses, pulpers, pumps (including oil-well pumps), screens and other heavy-duty applications.
  • Marine gearing, including main propulsion, centrifuges, deck machinery such as winches, windlasses, cranes, turning gears, pumps, elevators and rudder carriers.
  • Non-gear applications such as shaft couplings, screws and heavily loaded plain and rolling-contact bearings operating at slow speeds.

Performance & benefits

  • Mobilgear 600 XP Series products are designed to provide high-quality industrial gear oils, meeting the latest industry standards, with high versatility to lubricate a broad range of industrial and marine equipment.
  • Enhanced protection against gear micropitting: less gear and bearing wear, resulting in less unexpected downtime.
  • Reduced debris denting from generated wear particles: up to a 22% improvement in bearing life, reducing bearing-replacement costs and improving productivity.
