Manufacturer's description

Mobil Glygoyle 30 is a polyalkylene glycol (PAG) based, high-performance lubricant, one of the Mobil Glygoyle 11, 22 and 30 grades, that provides outstanding lubrication in extreme-temperature gear, bearing and circulation system applications, well beyond the capabilities of mineral oils. It is shear-stable, with outstanding resistance to thermal degradation, oxidation and sludge/deposit formation, and incorporates a proprietary additive package that enhances EP/anti-wear protection, corrosion and rust protection, and foam resistance without compromising the intrinsic properties of the PAG base oils. With very high viscosity indices and, being wax-free, extremely low pour points, Mobil Glygoyle 11, 22 and 30 exhibit lower friction and traction coefficients than mineral oils, delivering lower operating temperatures in many applications. Recommended for the most severe conditions in plain and anti-friction bearings and industrial enclosed gears up to a bulk oil temperature of 200°C, typical applications include severe plastic calendar operations, high-temperature paper machine bearings, industrial enclosed gears (spur, bevel and worm), and reciprocating/rotary compressors handling air, natural gas, CO2 and other process gases. Note: these PAG oils are not compatible with mineral oils, most other synthetic lubricants, or even other PAG-type products such as the Mobil Glygoyle ISO VG Series — systems must be thoroughly cleaned and flushed before conversion. With more than 25 years of proven performance in the most severe industrial applications, Mobil Glygoyle 11, 22 and 30 are recommended by major plastic calendar, paper machine bearing, compressor and gear manufacturers, offering very high thermal conductivity and excellent low-temperature fluidity that lower operating temperature and extend oil charge life, reduced gear tooth wear at high temperatures on both steel-on-steel and steel-on-bronze metallurgies, and reduced gas absorption and viscosity reduction under pressurized hydrocarbon gases for improved film protection in natural gas compressors. Mobil Glygoyle 30 has a kinematic viscosity of 224 mm²/s at 40 °C and 30.9 mm²/s at 100 °C, a pour point of -41 °C and a flash point of 221 °C (Cleveland open cup).

Applications

  • The most severe conditions in all types of plain and anti-friction bearings and industrial enclosed gears, up to a bulk oil temperature of 200°C.
  • Severe plastic-calendar operations.
  • High-temperature paper-machine bearings.
  • Industrial enclosed gears — spur, bevel and worm gearing.
  • Reciprocating and rotary air, natural gas, CO2 and other process-gas compressors.
  • PAG-based lubricants have limitations regarding compatibility with certain seal and coating materials, some light-metal alloys and other lubricants; consult the OEM before applying.
  • Not compatible with mineral oils and most other synthetic lubricants, and, depending on the specific PAG base fluid, may not be compatible with other PAG-type lubricants either (e.g. not miscible with the Mobil Glygoyle ISO VG series); generally not recommended for systems previously filled with mineral or PAO-based synthetic lubricants, and the system should be thoroughly cleaned and flushed before converting.

Performance & benefits

  • Very high thermal conductivity and excellent low-temperature fluidity help lower operating temperature, increasing fill (charge) life, and allow quicker warm-up at low ambient temperature, reducing power consumption and giving smoother running.
  • Reduced gear-tooth wear at high temperatures, for both steel-on-steel and steel-on-bronze metallurgies, lowers operating costs through less wear, lower operating temperature and smoother running.
  • Reduced hydrocarbon-gas absorption and viscosity loss under pressurised hydrocarbon gases improve film protection and give long life to natural-gas compressors.
