Manufacturer's description

Cat HYDO Advanced 30 complements Cat HYDO Advanced 10, combining premium additives with specially selected, controlled higher-quality base oils to provide extended drain intervals and extra protection to hydraulic system components. Caterpillar developed the formulation through severe qualification testing in the field and laboratory over thousands of hours, describing Cat HYDO Advanced 30 and 10 together as a significant performance breakthrough in hydraulic oil technology. Cat HYDO Advanced 30 is specifically formulated for working in consistently hot climates, with temperatures above 40°C (104°F). Caterpillar's ambient operating temperature guidance places Cat HYDO Advanced 30 from 10°C minimum to 50°C maximum (50°F to 122°F), compared with -5°C to 45°C for Cat HYDO Advanced 20 and -20°C to 40°C for Cat HYDO Advanced 10. Typical values from the Cat technical data sheet include a viscosity of 90 cSt at 40°C and 10.6 cSt at 100°C, a viscosity index of 100, a pour point of -24°C, a pass on rust protection (ASTM D665B) and oxidation stability of more than 5,000 hours (ASTM D943).

Applications

  • Cat machine hydraulic systems: Cat HYDO Advanced 10 for -20°C to 40°C (-4°F to 104°F); Advanced 20 for -5°C to 45°C (23°F to 113°F).
  • Cat HYDO Advanced 30, formulated for consistently hot climates, from 10°C to 50°C (50°F to 122°F).

Performance & benefits

  • 6,000-hour extended drain intervals — up to triple the hours of Cat HYDO 10/20/30 — when monitored with Cat S•O•SSM Services every 500 hours.
  • Reduces owning and operating costs and increases uptime.
  • Enhanced, long-lasting anti-wear protection: specially developed additives form a protective layer on wear surfaces, reducing component wear in high-pressure piston, vane and gear hydraulic pumps.
  • Holds water in dispersion via purpose-built emulsifiers instead of separating it out, helping prevent the pump and component damage that separated (and potentially freezing) water can cause.
  • Backward compatible, so it is the only hydraulic oil needed for maintenance stocking; the preferred fill for Cat equipment.
  • Improved filtration properties: detergent dispersants keep components clean and improve contaminant transport through filters; compatible with Cat Ultra High Efficiency filters.
  • Improved corrosion protection for metal surfaces, better than most other oils in the Cat line-up.
  • Faster air release: Cat HYDO Advanced 10 releases air in under 4 minutes, versus 7-10 minutes for Cat HYDO 10W (ASTM D3427), reducing the risk of cavitation.
  • Improved oil stability: a 250% increase in oxidation stability per ASTM D943 makes the oil and its wear protection last longer.
