Manufacturer's description

Mobil Paper Machine Oil S 320 is the ISO VG 320 grade of the Mobil Paper Machine Oil S Series: a high-performance synthetic oil specifically designed for demanding industrial paper machine circulating systems, engineered to deliver lubrication characteristics not attainable with conventional premium mineral oils. Built on synthesized hydrocarbon base oil technology with a carefully balanced proprietary additive system, it provides excellent protection of gears and bearings under severe operating conditions. It combines a very low pour point with a naturally high viscosity index, ensuring good low-temperature start-up while maintaining excellent viscosity at very high temperatures. Its low traction coefficient and high VI can help lower energy consumption and reduce component operating temperatures, permitting the higher steam pressures, temperatures and machine speeds common in high-output paper machines and calendar rolls. Outstanding hydrolytic stability and filterability assure reliable performance in the presence of water, with effective water separation and long-term colour retention supporting visual flow monitoring. The grade is recognised in Valmet Paper RAU4L00659_06 and RAUAH02725_00 oil recommendations and in Voith Paper VS 108 sections 5.3.2 (dry end), 5.3.5 (shoe press) and 5.3.6 (winder). It delivers excellent wear protection, outstanding oxidation and thermal stability, and effective water separation that extends maintenance intervals and equipment life.

Applications

  • Lubrication of severe industrial paper-machine circulating systems.
  • Circulation systems operating over a wide temperature range.
  • Circulation systems lubricating gears and bearings.
  • Particularly suited to machines where excellent colour stability is essential for visually monitoring oil flow through flow meters.

Performance & benefits

  • Excellent wide-temperature performance gives easier start-up and better lubrication in cold starts, very good protection at elevated temperatures, and better control of feed rates.
  • Excellent wear protection, outstanding oxidation and thermal stability, and effective water separation improve bearing and gear performance, lower filter-replacement costs, keep systems cleaner with reduced system deposits, and allow easier removal of water while reducing the formation of undesirable emulsions.
